Budokai Round 2: Gotta Go Fast!

As Saphi waited in the waiting area for her match she was deep in thought on how to proceed with the next match. It’s obvious that Tanku wasn’t going to be easy like her last opponent, but at the same time she felt that he was more reckless than anything. Nonetheless, she still had to keep her guard up and try to her fullest not to unleash her trump card. As she took a small breath, she started to remember the match Tanku had against Katy.

As Saphi stood at the entrance to the ring she watched as the two Saiyans duked it out against each other. Of course, Saphi was able to keep up with their speed while watching them, but something was bothering her. She had this off feeling about Tanku, like he wasn’t supposed to be in this realm.

“So you feel it too don’t ya Saphi?” a voice said. Saphi tilted her head slightly to see Arevir and Rez walking up to her.

“Congrats on your win Saphi,” Rez said cheerfully.

“Thanks.”

“That wasn’t a very convincing remark.”

“You asked if I can feel it too, so I’m assuming you can feel this unsettling pressure as well?”

“Yeah.” Arevir then looked out to see both fighters prepare the famous Kamehameha wave, but Tanku’s wasn’t a normal Kamehameha. “Be careful Saphi. I don’t want you to miss our match.”

“Heh. Same goes to you Arevir.”

With the remaining bits of worry gone, Saphi closed her book before heading for the arena entrance. As she approached, however, she saw her opponent standing there with an expression of impatience on his face.

“Tanku,” Saphi greeted.

“Well you sure took your sweet time. I thought you were going to forfeit.”

“Hardly.”
“Heh…well then let’s get this show on the roll.” The two then exited out to the ring where the crowd cheered for the next match to begin. Saphi paid no heed to them, but Tanku was practically enjoying the attention he was getting and giving off victory signs while turning his gaze to different parts of the stands.

“And here they are folks! The fighters for the second match of round 2! Will Tanku prevail with his unusual techniques, or will Saphi’s cool head lead her to victory? There is only one way to find out! Fighters step into the ring and take your positions!” Tanku then leapt to the other side of the ring while Saphi climbed the stairs to her spot. As soon as she entered the ring a barrier formed around it, which was meant as a safety measure for the fans. Considering how strong the fighters are, they were smart to do this.

“Alright folks the barrier is up and the fighters are in position! Let the second match of Round 2…begin!

As Saphi took her fighting pose Tanku couldn’t help but grin widely. This got Saphi to raise her eyebrow. “What are you so happy about?”

“Well seeing as how the two of us don’t like to do “warm-ups” why don’t you say we just skip to getting serious.” He then let out a loud shout before his hair spiked up and a powerful ki flared up around him. Bio-electricity then stared jumping around as his hair took a golden color. “Hopefully you can do this or this match won’t be much of a match at all,” Tanku taunted.

“You have a big mouth you know that?” Saphi replied before instantly transforming into her Super Saiyan 2 form. Tanku was surprised.

“Wait…how come it didn’t take you that much effort for you to transform?”

“That’s a secret.”

“Heh…well it doesn’t matter, because you are go…” before Tanku could finish his sentence his body suddenly surged with pain as Saphi punched him in the gut. Blood spat out from his mouth as a massive force sent him hurtling into the barrier before he bounced off and landed on the ground. Saphi then charged a ball of ki and flung it towards Tanku while he was recovering. The blast exploded upon impact causing a cloud of smoke to form around him.

“Like I said, you have a big mouth.” The crowd was stunned at the quick exchange done by Saphi, but she didn’t take the time to revel in her victory and instead got back into her fighting pose.

“Amazing folks! Not only did Saphi make a quick transformation into Super Saiyan 2, but she was able to strike Tanku while his guard was down! Talk about not holding back!” Just then, a massive upsurge of energy fired from the smoke towards Saphi, but she quickly managed to dodge it by jumping into the air before she noticed it was a feint.

“Shit…” she muttered before Tanku appeared behind her and slammed her with a sledgehammer sending her flying into the ring.

“Sucker!” he said before noticing something above him. He quickly turned around to see Saphi readying what appeared a Kamehameha. “No way…how does she know that technique?”

“It’s easy to mimic a technique like this you know. Just added a little touch is all.” Then with a thrust of her arms she fired a blue beam of ki at Tanku, who had no choice but to counter with his Blood Cannon. The two blasts connected with each other, but in mere seconds Saphi’s Kamehameha overpowered Tanku’s Blood Cannon and slammed into him causing a massive explosion. The crowd cheered loudly as Tanku got up from the rubble and looked up at Saphi.

“Amazing! Not only did Saphi make a quick recovery from Tanku’s sneak attack, but she managed to overpower him with a Warp Kamehameha!”

“No way she knows Instantaneous Movement too?!” Rez shouted. Arevir however simply continued to watch. “Uh hello? Earth to Arevir? Did you hear me?”

“Yes I heard you and I don’t think that was Instantaneous Movement. The fact she was able to teleport so quickly it must have been Kai Kai.”

“Kai Kai?”

“Basically a God’s version of Instantaneous Movement. Now that I think about it Saphi does work for a Kaioshin.”

“Say whaaaaaaaat?!”

“…though I forgot which one.”

Back in the ring Saphi continued to float there waiting for Tanku to respond, but she then got an uneasy feeling.

“Something’s not right…could he be…?” Just then an incredibly upsurge of green energy erupted from the ring and show Tanku being surrounded by a green aura.

“I have to admit you really got me there, so I’ll say you won the first round. Now it’s time for Round 2!”

Saphi just stared at him while realizing that this green aura was not ki at all, but something different. Nonetheless, she was left with little choice but to use “that” technique. “Well…guess it’s now or never.”

“What’s the matter? Scared now Saphi?”

“More like uncomfortable, but nonetheless alright. You on the other hand…” she then stopped her speech before holding her right palm out and making various movements with her left hand.

“Er…what are you doing?”

“You’re about to find out.” Just then a sphere of black ki began to form slightly above her palm and her hand movements became faster as the sphere grew.

“What a mystery folks! Not only has Tanku released that green energy again, but now Saphi is making a sphere of ki I’ve never seen before!” Arevir, however, had a slightly scared look on his face.

“Is she insane?!”

“What?” Rez said.

“That technique…it can easily destroy the barrier and take the fans along with it!”

“SAY WHAT?!”

“Sorry Arevir,” Saphi thought to herself. “But I can’t afford to take risks.”

Tanku, however, just smirked. “Using your secret weapon already?”

“You’re about to find out.”

“Actually…” he started to say before flinging his fingers forward and firing a green blade of energy towards Saphi. “I won’t.”

Saphi gasped as the energy came for her, and in less than a second it pierced the black sphere of ki. “Shit!”

“Language missy.” However, Tanku soon noticed that his blade didn’t go all the way through the sphere, but instead it continued to grow faster! “What the?!”

“Dammit…I gotta get this away from the arena, but…I can’t…” Saphi struggled to finish before noting that she couldn’t move. The sphere grew more and more rapidly as Saphi tried to contain it, but it eventually grew out of control. She was then left with no other option. “Sorry…”

“Huh?” Then with a loud scream Saphi used all her effort to force the sphere forward towards Tanku, and in a second the sphere exploded releasing a massive shockwave of dark ki that managed to cause most of the audience and the waiting fighters to be forced back.

“Saphi!” Arevir yelled.

“Woah…talk about a Big Bang Attack,” Rez replied with a slight joking tone to it.

“Too soon Rez!”
